yeah, it finishes loading and the small "patching" bar appears, goes up to 100% twice really fast, then just stays there frozen doing nothing. the installation goes "stopped running" on vista, and on xp it does nothing... oh yeah it made my xp crash once...

so i'm retrying later, maybe it's just supposed to take ages without being disturbed or something...

PS: i did reinstall a clean uncracked spore before launching the update, but no difference :/

I'm running vista. I tried the install about three times and closed it each time it stopped responding. On the the 4th time though I just left it running and eventually it finished. Although through the entire install it would stop responding. I would say at least 20 times. It took me about 10 minutes but it ended up working. Thanks for this even though the game still sucks ass.

@natranr, when I try to install this patch, the setup says "The setup has detected that no version of Spore is installed. This update requires that a previous version of the application be installed".

I guess I should just uninstall Spore and follow these directions...?

I got to the pirated versions, i downloaded spore in a ISO file, I instaled it and it works perfect. But now i want to install the v1.02 because i need it to play the axpension pack C&C. And it sais i mis the old files who were needed to patch.

Ok, so i downloaded this and ran the patch.
Don't worry guys, i tried letting the patcher run its course. It's just so damn slow on some systems, it doesn't freeze.

Now for a more serious note, the SporeApp.exe included here contains an adware, here's the log file from NOD32 antivirus:

Not so fast boys! The adware is detected because the crack needs such a thing to make the game work. Even if the anti-virus is showing an adware it won't do anything. It will just do it's work with the game(I mean cracking it). So there's no need to worry

my guess is that the patch is not working because the C&C pack can't detect spore if the version is lower than 1.02...or something..

Works great, just make sure do everything in the proper order. If you are unsure of that order I have copied a previous post by someone who has figured out how to get Spore to running successfully. I followed this persons instructions and it worked for me so I thought I would share.

Alright, I've been struggling with this torrent download for HOURS, and I have finally fixed it. For everyone who has been getting the same problem of "Could not find a needed package. The data directory is missing or corrupt. [1004]", please follow these directions precisely!

1. Install the Spore game by mounting the ISO. Do not install the EA download manager, and when prompted in the begging of the installation, enter one of the four keys given or use the keygen in the Spore ISO.

Ok here's the deal.
Thankfully for your torrent description, the original SPORE full game torrent description and miss 12emilyj's detailed walkthrough, I have been able to get through this fairly easy.

-I downloaded the full game (didnt even touch the EADM)
-Updated to the 1.02 via spore_dd_patch_all_v2
But I think I made 2 mistakes.
I didnt write down the key that the cracked key gen gave me, but I DID use it to download the original Spore.
and I think that in a confused moment I mounted and downloaded the creepy and cute pack BEFORE I copied the updated crack SporeApp.exe into the original spore/sporebin.

The result of this I believe (if the latter of the two mistakes I made even made a difference) was a window popping up that says "Enter your Registration Code here." with a button that says "Done" and another that says "Don't Continue".

I think that since I never saved the key from the keygen that I used, I don't have a viable key to put in there.
So basically what I want to do is just uninstall everything, and do it from scratch. However it says I cannot uninstall Spore because it has the 1.02 patch, and I need to uninstall the original.
*I have no Idea where that is.*
So if someone could help me find the original to uninstall I'd be very grateful.

I have a question, when I got done with instillation I didn't do the crack; one there wasn't enough space; two I saw one on there earlier called the same thing in sporebin. Also, I didn't install the expansion just to see if the game worked and it asked me to verify my registration code again, what do I do????

For those generations after me who will want to download this pain in ass of a game heed my words and be enlightened:

Found all of this out after i donated some good amount of my blood to this games altar.. Or in other words after god damn annoyingly long ass research, so you better be thankful bitches.

Tested on Vista x64 with gtx nvidia 8800
The problem was apparently in the v1.5.1 patch if u install this bitch on top of GA mod it messes it up making the animation static aka non-moving-shit. I couldn't bring myself to play static shit so i had to go researching p_p
